Referendum Result

The Conservatorium Students' Association and the Artists for Yes Campaign extends our heartfelt gratitude for your support through these difficult times.

The referendum's outcome, while not aligning with our aspirations, does not diminish the progress we've made as a community. We may be disheartened, but the awareness we've raised and the unity we've created are invaluable achievements.

Let us recognise this moment not as an end but as a continuation of our shared journey. Despite this setback, our dedication remains resolute. The dialogues we've opened, the understanding we've deepened, and the connections we've fostered serve as the fundamental components in building a more inclusive Australia.

As we move forward, we invite you to channel your disappointment into renewed determination. Let's harness the strength of our collective spirit to amplify the voices of Indigenous Australians.

The seeds of change have been sown, and although the road ahead may be challenging, we are confident that our shared vision of a more just and inclusive Australia will one day come to fruition.

The Sydney Conservatorium of Music is on the unceded and violently stolen lands of the Gadigal, in the Eora Nation. The location on which our institution is built has been a long-standing place of learning, music, and storytelling for the Gadigal, being a significant place for coming-of-age ceremonies for their young men.
