Practice Room bookings change

From today, all practice room bookings at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Seymour Centre will be made in 30-minute intervals, instead of 1 hour intervals previously. 

This was conveyed to students by Justin Ankus, Operations Manager, via a Canvas announcement at 16:06 on 7 December 2023.

Bookings can still be made 3 days in advance on LibCal, for two bookings per day of a maximum of 2 hours each.

In a poll done by the Association at the end of October 2023 on their Instagram story, 42 people (62%) said they would like to see this change, and 26 people said they wouldn’t (38%); the majority of voters were current students, with a few alumni as well. This poll came about after a Con Rant on Facebook complained about the previous 1 hour booking system.

There are 56 practice rooms at the Greenway Site of the Conservatorium (off Macquarie Street), which are only available for use by current students of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and its Open Academy. Other students from the University of Sydney may not use them.
